Developers and Researchers Discuss iRODS development in Annual Meeting at IQSS

IQSS hosted the 6th annual iRODS User Group Meeting on June 18 and 19. More than 70 participants from 6 different countries attended. The iRODS development team and IQSS Data Science team were on hand to discuss the significant refactoring that went into iRODS 4.0, improvements to the iRODS continuous integration and testing suite, and the iRODS development roadmap.

iRODS User Group meeting attendantsThe Integrated Rule-Oriented Data System (iRODS) is an open-source data management software, aimed at deployment in mission critical environments, that is in use at research organizations and government agencies worldwide. The iRODS Consortium was created to work with institutions to guide continued iRODS development, obtain funding, and broaden the user community.

User community presentations explored a cross-section of iRODS applications, including such topics as:

  • Tag-based policy enforcement in Dataverse
  • Workflow optimization of the Whisper Project's seismic data set
  • Archive management at NASA and the French National Library
  • A RADOS storage plugin, iRODS user interfaces, and other enhancements
