Hillygus Wins APSA Book Award
A recent publication by Sunshine Hillygus, Frederick S. Danziger Associate Professor of Government and IQSS faculty associate, received a 2009 best book award from the American Political Science Association (APSA). The Persuadable Voter: Wedge Issues and Presidential Campaigns, co-authored with Todd Shields, was chosen as the winner of the 2009 Robert E. Lane Award for the best book published in political psychology in 2008, awarded by the Political Psychology section of APSA.
Leonie Huddy, Professor in the Department of Political Science at Stony Brook University and chair of the award committee, states "The book provides a crisp and compelling account of how attitudinal ambivalence influences (and can be exploited within the context of contemporary/political campaigns to alter) the dynamics of American elections. It is innovative, insightful, and a pleasure to read."
The award will be presented at the political psychology section business meeting at the APSA 2009 Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Toronto, Ontario in early September.
