Every year the National Science Foundation awards a number of grants to improve doctoral dissertations in social science. These awards can be used for travel expenses, data acquisition, and other costs accrued during a maximum of two years of dissertation research. IQSS provides assistance, if you choose to submit a proposal.

Harvard University announced this week that it has licensed to Crimson Hexagon, Inc. the patent-pending text analysis technology developed by Gary King, David Florence Professor of Government and the Director of IQSS, and Daniel Hopkins, an IQSS affiliate and recent Harvard Ph.D.  Their work at IQSS led to this paper.
