Global History of Elections

With recent advances in information technology--GIS mapping technology, digitized historical archives, digitized parliamentary transcripts, and online historical census reports etc.--it is now possible for scholars to undertake historical quantitative research on elections going back to the 19th century.  Daniel Ziblatt’s Global History of Elections Program (GHEP) aims to explore this new area of research by linking and synthesizing two centuries of national census data from as many countries as possible with election, roll call and petition data going back to 1800.
