Research Opportunity for Harvard or MIT Graduate Student

IQSS faculty affiliate is looking for an Harvard or MIT graduate student with library privileges to conduct research for him. The work will consist of, but is not limited to, scanning in papers and emailing him the results as well as running small errands around town. The work is easy to schedule and quite light, a few hours per week max. Usual student wages.

Harvard-MIT Data Center Seeks Lab Help Desk User Assistant

Description:  We are looking for motivated, friendly people to help staff our Lab Help Desk at the Center for Government and International Studies (CGIS). Help Desk staff will assist users in 4 lab locations (same building) as well as assisting over the phone. Additional projects, such as web development, documentation writing, multimedia training development, and training class development, might also be available depending upon hours worked. Requirements:  Please do not apply until you have set your Fall schedule. Potential available hours are: Monday 8-9, Tuesday 8-9, Wednesday 8-9, Thursday 8-9, and Friday 8-6. Candidates must be able to commit to a weekly schedule during the entire Fall semester. Candidates should be proficient in Windows XP/2000 and/or MacOS X operating systems. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and web browsers is required. Statistical and/or multimedia application skills are desired. Candidates will need strong, dynamic interpersonal skills as well.

Work Location: CGIS Knafel Building 1737 Cambridge Street. Just east of the GSD building.

Research Associate and Visiting Faculty, Harvard Divinity School

Harvard Divinity School announces five full-time positions as Research Associate and Visiting Faculty for 2010-11 in its Women’s Studies in Religion Program. Proposals should utilize both religion and gender as central categories of analysis. They may address women and religion in any time, place or religious tradition, and may utilize disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches from across the fields of theology, the humanities, and the social sciences.

Modeling and Simulation Opportunities for Graduate Degree Holders

William J. Salter, Ph.D., is the Principal Scientist, Modeling and Simulation Division of Aptima, Inc. Dr. Salter notified IQSS that Aptima, located in Woburn, MA, has several positions to fill that might be of interest to recent Ph.D. and Masters degree graduates with expertise in survey design and analysis. Dr. Salter describes Aptima as "a nice place to work, we pay fairly and do interesting things, and the [qualified candidates will] have a chance to build an area of research."
