Elena Villalon is a software developer for our Anchoring Vignettes project, as well as for Forecasting Causes of Death Worldwide, and works in collaboration with Dr. Federico Girosi and Professor Gary King. She holds a Ph. D in Physics from the University of Madrid and a certificate in C++/Unix programming from Northeastern University (Lowell Institute of Technology). She was a Research Scientist at Northeastern University, and at the Air Force Research Laboratory for almost 14 years. She published over 30 articles in Space Physics and numerous abstracts at the American Physical Society and Geophysical Union conferences. Before joining Harvard, she also worked as an engineer at the Radar Laboratory of Raytheon Co. She is interested in software development and mathematics for basic research in social sciences.
