Filipe Campante is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Economics. He
is originally from Brazil, where he has learned that politics plays a central
role in understanding the process of development. With that background,
his research focuses on the political economy of institutions and its
impact on economic growth and development. Current research topics include
the effects of incumbents' stability on their incentives for corrupt
behavior, the relationship between inequality, redistribution and
population size, and the interaction between education and political
participation.
