Jackelyn Hwang received her B.A.S. with honors in Sociology and Mathematics from Stanford University in 2007. Her senior thesis, which earned the Stanford Firestone Medal, explored racial differences in perceptions of neighborhood boundaries during gentrification. After graduating from Stanford, she worked in education management for a community-focused charter school in West Philadelphia. Her current research interests include community and urban sociology, inequality, race and ethnicity, culture, and education.
