Jason Lakin is a second year PhD student in the Government and Social Policy program. His interests are in social insurance in comparative perspective, with a focus on Latin America and Europe. He is currently involved in the evaluation of the Seguro Popular insurance program in Mexico with Gary King and the Harvard Initiative for Global Health. Jason is the co-author of The Democratic Century (University of Oklahoma Press, 2004), with Seymour Martin Lipset. In addition to social insurance, he is interested in the development of the state, the intersection of politics and history, and the origins of institutions.
