Digitization Assistant, Murray Archive

1737 Cambridge St., Cambridge MA 02138

John is a graduate of the University of Connecticut in German Language and Literature, and has spent most of the time since then developing software for Burndy Corporation, Arthur Young & Co., and Ziff-Davis Publishing, among others. Although recently proficient in Perl and C, his greatest experience and proficiency is, sadly, in COBOL. He is expert in applications development with, and the internals of, CODASYL Network Databases, an astonishingly efficient and now mostly obsolete technology. Other computing interests include PostScript programming, the Forth and LISP programming languages and DOS.

John has been singing professionally for more than 35 years. He and his wife Emilie are both founding members of the local chamber ensemble 'The de Varonistas'. He was a featured Tenor in a 2005 program of early music with Concordia Consort. He has performed in such diverse locales as Berlin, Leipzig, Linz, Vienna, Paris, Florence, Rome, Padua, Venice and Biddeford, Maine. He has sung unaccompanied in Adolphus Busch Hall, by request. There were people there, ostensibly listening.
