Katherine Gordon
International Project Associate, ideas42
Kate is a project associate for ideas42. She works in Santiago, Chile addressing the impact of incentives on loaner repayment rates in microfinance. She holds a BA with honors in economics and international relations from Mount Holyoke College. Her research is focused on international development. Recently her thesis, The Impact of Chinese Investment on Latin America’s Development Prospect: Lessons from Peru was awarded highest honors.
Prior to joining ideas42 Kate interned with the Dow Jones Newswires in Lima, Peru and New York City. She has also volunteered in Peru, for the microfinance group Pro-Mujer, and in Tanzania with Volunteer Africa. She is the founder Project I Care: Dispelling the Myth of American Apathy where she spoke to students about the importance of international development and in doing so raised funds to build a new school in Tanzania. Kate enjoys running marathons, cycling, equestrian sports, international travel, volunteer work, and spending time with friends and family.
