Lex Berman

Merrick Lex Berman studied Asian Languages at UMASS - Amherst, where his M.A. thesis, Opening the Lancang (Mekong) River in Yunnan was supported by UMASS teaching assistanceships and a Fulbright scholarship. Since 1997, Lex has been working on Chinese historical placename databases, using a variety of GIS and database software to develop online search engines. For the China Historical GIS project, Lex developed a variety of search engines and interactive webmaps.
