Merce Crosas

Director, Product Development

Merce Crosas is the Director of Product Development at IQSS.  The product development team includes three main groups or projects: the Research Computing Environment (RCE), the Dataverse Network repository, and the Statistical and Web development projects (Zelig, Scholars, Drupal@Harvard, and other web sites). Merce joined the HMDC development group at IQSS in 2004 as lead of the Dataverse Network project. Before joining IQSS, she worked for five years in the software and biotech industry first as a software developer, and later as manager and director of IT and software development. Prior to that, she was at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics as a researcher and software engineer. She completed her doctoral thesis at the the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics as a student fellow in the Atomic and Molecular Physics Institute, and afterwards was a post-doctoral fellow with the Radioastronomy division. Merce holds a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Rice University and graduated with a B.S. in Physics from the Universitat de Barcelona, Spain.
