Business, Collective Action, and Democracy

Faculty lead: Gautam Nair, Assistant Professor of Public Policy, HKS

This project studies how business shapes public policy in the United States and India using data on firms, lobbying, and regulation. The specific domains include the regulation of large technology companies, state-owned enterprises, and politician-business networks. RA responsibilities will include building and analyzing datasets, and conducting literature reviews.

Desired Skills

The ideal candidate has experience building databases, writing code (ideally in R, Stata, and/or Python), and reading and summarizing academic and policy publications. The research assistant will gain practical research experience in political economy and public policy. The position is particularly well-suited to students with quantitative training and a political science, economics, or related social science background.
