###    Can I eat in the lab?  expand\_more  

 While we want you to keep hydrated, we ask that you do not display or consume food during your time in our labs. Please dispose of any food outside of our lab as we strive to keep our area free of mice, rats and other creatures that also love to consume wires.

 



 

 

 



###    Can I print to lab printers from my personal computer?  expand\_more  

 Yes. For Windows laptops, see this [page](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njEnAqG25Lo). For macOS based laptops, see this [page](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu972Ym2png). You **must** select **hmdc-crimson-print** to be able to print to our printers. 



 

 

 



###    May I remotely connect to lab workstations?  expand\_more  

 Yes, we have several workstations dedicated to remote access. Our supplies are limited and access is on a first come/first serve basis. Please [email us](mailto:iqsslabs@harvard.edu) for more information.

 



 

 

 



###    Can I use my own paper in the printer?  expand\_more  

 Of course, so long as you verify that you are using paper verified to work with laser printers. We keep supplies of speciality paper behind the helpdesk, including card stock, A3, 11x14, and acid-free. Please see the help desk assistants for more information.

 



 

 

 



###    Can you help with GIS Questions?  expand\_more  

 As we are not trained in GIS related issues we recommend reaching out to the CGA staff. Their office is directly in front of the elevators on the Concourse floor of CGIS Knafel. ###    Does the lab sell or distribute software?  expand\_more  

 We stopped distrubiting software in 2015. However a lot of the software we have installed has free trials or free or low cost academic licenses available. FAS/GSAS-affiliated patrons, please check out the [FAS Downloads Page](http://downloads.fas.harvard.edu/) as it may have the software you are looking for.

 



 

 

 



###    How long can I check out items for?  expand\_more  

 Normally, we request that all of our items be returned thirty minutes before the helpdesk closes on the same day. We can make accommodations if you need a more extended checkout; please see the helpdesk assistant or lab manager for questions.

 All Item checkouts are only available Monday - Friday, 9 AM to 4:30 PM.

###    Where is the SB12 Training Room?  expand\_more  

 The training room is located in the subasement (SB), which can only be reached by elevator. When you exit the elevator make a right and you will see it located behind glass doors.

 



 

 

 



###    Who can sign up for a lab account?  expand\_more  

 We are open to all active members of the Harvard and MIT Community.

 



 

 

 



###    Why can't I login to lab computers?  expand\_more  

 We require a signup for all members. Please fill [out this form](/contact-labs) to get access. Access can only be granted Monday - Friday 9 AM to 5 PM.
