Parkes founded the EconCS research group within SEAS. He has served as the chair of several major conferences (ACMEC, EC, WINE, HCOMP), chairs the ACM special interest group on electronic commerce, and serves on several editorial boards in economics and computer science. His current research interests are in market design, information and preference elicitation, modeling behavior, machine learning and economics, and computational social choice.
