Gianluca Busilacchi is an Associate Professor of Economic Sociology at the University of Macerata (Italy). He has also been a Visiting Fellow at the University of Barcelona, the London School of Economics, the European University Institute, and the Center for European Studies at Harvard University, and was a Marie Curie Fellow at the Centre for Social Policy of the University of Antwerp.  
  
From 2010 to 2020, he served as a Member of the Regional Parliament of Marche, where he held positions as Chair of the Health and Welfare Committee, Chair of the Committee on Policy Evaluation, and Majority Leader.  
  
His research interests include comparative social policy, poverty and labor markets, social assistance policies, and, on the theoretical side, analytical sociology. He is currently working on a project analyzing how institutions shape the individual behavior of beneficiaries of active social policies, using mixed methods.  
  
His research has been published in journals such as Social Indicators Research, Social Policy and Administration, and the Journal of International and Comparative Social Policy.
