Hongsu Wang is the senior project manager of the China Biographical Database project (CBDB), which is jointly owned by Harvard University, Academia Sinica, and Peking University. As CBDB's project manager, he developed the database's OCR proofreading platform, a cross-catalogue query system for digital sources, and a KML path generator tool. His publications include Structuring, Recording, and Analyzing Historical Networks in the China Biographical Database(Journal of Historical Network Research, 2021), Harvesting Big Biographical Data for Chinese History: The China Biographical Database(Journal of Chinese History, 2020), Harvesting Big Biographical Data for Chinese History: The China Biographical Database(Journal of Chinese History, 2020).
