Hunter's research agenda seeks to understand how political institutions structure the behavior of racial minorities and members of marginalized communities in American politics. Her work embodies a mixed-method approach, employing techniques for causal inference, interviews, and formal theory. Hunter graduated with her PhD from from the Department of Government at Harvard in 2024, and will join the UC Berkeley faculty in fall 2025.
