Jason Nemirow is the director of the Program on Higher Education Research (PHER) at IQSS. In this role, he leads the program’s strategic development and research agenda, manages donor and partner engagement, and oversees operations and initiatives that advance the study of higher education through rigorous social science methods.

He is also the director of the Council for Academic Freedom at Harvard (CAFH), a 200+ member faculty association housed within PHER—all under the administrative umbrella of IQSS.

Prior to joining IQSS, Jason earned his PhD in Experimental Cognitive Psychology at Harvard, where his research focused on how people evaluate acts of altruism. He was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and received his Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, graduating summa cum laude.
