Katherine Irajpanah is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Government. She is also a 2024-25 International Security Program Pre-Doctoral Fellow at the Belfer Center and Minerva Peace and Security Fellow at the United States Institute of Peace. Her dissertation examines norms around the use of force and patterns in international conflict. In the project, she introduces a conflict dataset (Global Wars, 1800-2022) with new information on the capabilities and behavior of war participants. Her other research takes a text-as-data approach to understanding how intelligence agencies and the military draw assessments about foreign adversaries.
