With a degree in Psychology from the University of Dayton, Phil is happy to be working at [an institute dedicated to social science](http://j.mp/1FQacy4) and proud to be part of the [team](/people/people/data-science-products) that [rewrote Dataverse](https://twitter.com/Harvard/status/635801309053067264) to be more inclusive of all science. It's hard to stop him from jumping up and giving an [impromptu talk on Dataverse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GUr-cd_OWQ).

He's thrilled to see the number of Datavese installations [listed](https://groups.google.com/d/msg/dataverse-community/HceZ-0h3-ys/z706eXxICQAJ) at [dataverse.org](https://dataverse.org/) grow to more than a hundred, and can often be found [answering questions](https://groups.google.com/forum/#!activity/dataverse-community/NHqWlf-oAQAJ) on the [Dataverse mailing list](https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/dataverse-community), the [Dataverse chat room](https://chat.dataverse.org/), and the [monthly Dataverse community call](http://dataverse.org/community-calls). Every month, he jots down and sends out the [Dataverse Community News](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PtUHfBnu1gnjpZ1Uu7sEEWjW9QWAK2S9K62DbPaPHCQ/edit?usp=sharing) and always looks forward to the annual [Dataverse Community Meeting](http://dataverse.org/events).

He gets overly excited about open source ([and gave a talk about it](http://wiki.greptilian.com/talks/2017/javaone-how-to-run-an-open-source-project)) and created a dataset in Harvard Dataverse called [Open Source at Harvard](http://dx.doi.org/10.7910/DVN/TJCLKP) (below). He co-founded the [codecraft mailing list](http://or8.net/mailman/listinfo/codecraft), has a crazy idea called [Crossroads](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1H-mODHLRcGa0dYpzFuIKRrn558fGNX70XNEybK_oOxM/edit?usp=sharing), and makes silly [mobile games](http://wiki.greptilian.com/teaching-kids-to-code) with his kids. He blogs at [blogs.harvard.edu/pdurbin](http://blogs.harvard.edu/pdurbin) and his personal website is [greptilian.com](http://greptilian.com/).
