Bob Treacy is a Principal Software Architect and Data Engineer. He came to IQSS in 2006 at the beginning stages of the Dataverse Project and participated in the initial architecture, design and development of the system. He worked on a project for survey research, the Consilience project for text analysis, differential privacy, and maintained the Zelig project and various other R packages when they were hosted on CRAN. He has been working with Java since 1995, when he was at Fusion Systems Group, a consulting firm which worked closely with Sun Microsystems. He has over 35 years in software development for manufacturing, financial systems, education course management, news delivery and various web companies. In addition to Java, he has developed in Scala, C/C++, Python, and R. He has worked with various relational databases and NoSQL databases. His first distributed systems project in the early 90s involved integrating stove-piped legacy terminal-based manufacturing systems using modern UIs and in recent years has worked with Hadoop and Spark for machine learning and AI. He is currently involved with fine-tuning local Large Language Models using FAS RC on Dataverse data. He has worked with the AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
