 Serhat Yildirim, MD, graduated from Ghent University Medical School in Belgium. Currently enrolled in the MMSc Global Health Delivery program at Harvard Medical School, he holds the prestigious Fulbright and Fayat Scholarships. Driven by a passion for global and social health, his work primarily centers on (mental) healthcare and a keen focus on the availability and accessibility of (mental) healthcare services.

 Throughout his medical education, Dr. Yildirim demonstrated exceptional commitment, serving as the chairman of the Belgian National Student Union. He actively participated in various programs, including the Fulbright Program, the International Visitor Leadership Program, and the Belgian Leadership Program. Affiliated with the Department of Public Health at Ghent University, he contributed to international working groups as a young researcher, such as the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and the European Health Parliament.

 Serhat Yildirim's dedication extends to humanitarian efforts, as he has served as an aid worker in humanitarian missions in various MENA (Middle East and North Africa) countries. Currently, in collaboration with experts from IQSS, he is researching the availability of mental health services for Yazidis in northern Iraq who were former Islamic State child soldiers (CAAFAG).

 Looking ahead, Dr. Yildirim aspires to integrate clinical work in resource-poor settings with research and policy-making, focusing on conflict zones. His multifaceted approach reflects a commitment to addressing global health challenges with a particular emphasis on mental health in vulnerable populations.
