Simon Berset
After obtaining a BA in Management at the University of Fribourg, I completed a double Master’s degree in Public Economics and Public Finance at the University of Fribourg and the University of Tampere (Finland). I am currently writing my PhD dissertation at the University of Fribourg under the supervision of Prof. Mark Schelker. My research interests lie in the fields of public and political economics. At the IQSS, I will undertake a project looking at the impact of exogenous fiscal windfalls on local public finances. Other research projects include an empirical analysis of the impact of fiscal decentralization on progressive taxation, as well as an empirical study in development economics on the consequences of conflict on mental health and social behavior in Uganda.
