 I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Government at Harvard University. My research has focused on state institutions and state-business relations in China. I am the author of *[Tying the Autocrat’s Hands: The Rise of the Rule of Law in China](http://www.cambridge.org/us/academic/subjects/politics-international-relations/comparative-politics/tying-autocrats-hands-rise-rule-law-china?format=HB)* (Cambridge University Press, 2015).

 I received B.A. and M.A. from Peking University (Beijing, China) in 2003 and 2006 and Ph.D. in Political Science from University of Michigan in 2011. From 2011 to 2015, I was assistant professor of political science at the University of Pennsylvania.
