IQSS is pleased to welcome Bilsi Balakrishnan, who has joined the Institute as the new Software Development Lead on the IQSS OpenScholar team.
OpenScholar, a powerful web publishing platform built on Drupal, is an open source web application project developed by IQSS that empowers end users to create and manage dynamic and feature-rich academic web sites. It powers the web publication service provided to the Harvard community by Harvard Web Publishing, a three-way collaboration between IQSS, Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT), and Harvard Public Affairs and Communications (HPAC).
As Software Development Lead, Balakrishnan will supervise the development team and will be responsible for the technical design and implementation of new modules, features, and quality assurance. She also will help to manage and implement best practices for the OpenScholar user feedback system.
Balakrishnan comes from a technical background, with a career in industry as a software engineer and project manager for various web application and desktop platforms. She says that she looks forward to playing a key role in the technical advancement of OpenScholar, and that she is excited about working with the team to enhance the product and improve the user experience.
