Roadmaps

We maintain these software and infrastructure development roadmaps publicly so that all our faculty, students, and staff can remain on, or at least work from, the same page; we give everyone complete visibility into what IQSS is working toward, how we are going about it, and when we plan to get there.

For each area of development, you will find the big picture and ways to drill down to whatever level of detail you desire; for some, you will find ongoing community discussion forums, and in many you can even see the raw computer code we are in the process of writing. We realize that this level of transparency is highly unusual in a large complex environment like Harvard, but our research indicates that we do a much better job when involving our community in our operations and empowering its members to fuel the growth and improvement of our products, services, and activities.

IQSS Strategic Priorities

  • Develop IQSS and CGA  financial sustainability plan for the services and infrastructure that we provide, and for future product development and innovation work. 
  • Continue to develop business model for Harvard Dataverse in collaboration with key Harvard stakeholders. 
  • Continue to support faculty to be on the cutting edge of innovative social science research, while balancing the realities of what is practical and sustainable from a staffing and funding perspective. 
  • Continue to scope, launch, incubate, and expand emerging initiatives in collaboration with University counterparts and external partners and deliver with excellence on outstanding commitments. 
  • Have updated roadmaps and corresponding metrics for all areas of our work.
  • Develop suite of recommended tools/resources for product management best practices based on needs. 
  • Further deepen collaborations with FASRC and HUIT around research computing services. 
  • Increase IQSS’ internal and external communication output, including increased engagement with IQSS Steering Committee, Donors, and Affiliates.
