The Society for Political Methodology has named Gary King, Weatherhead University Professor at Harvard and Director of the Institute for Quantitative Social Science, as the 2019 recipient of the Excellence in Mentoring Award. This award “honors members of the Society who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to mentoring and advising graduate and/or undergraduate students and, in particular, those from underrepresented groups.”
The citation highlights Professor King’s generosity with his time despite the large number of projects he is involved in, as well as his efforts to promote diversity in the field of political methodology by showing “tremendous commitment in furthering the careers of women and scholars of color.” The full citation can be read on the Society for Political Methodology website.
