IQSS Data Science team member Elizabeth Quigley has been named a recipient of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences 2015 Dean's Distinction Award.

Quigley has been with IQSS since 2013 in the position of Usability Specialist, a role that has been critical across our products and associated websites. She has performed her work with professionalism and has achieved strong results. More than that, she has improved how IQSS works. She has helped IQSS development and management teams recognize the importance of user feedback early in the design and development process, and has played a critical role as liaison between developers, stakeholders, and users. She has gone above and beyond to collaborate proactively with others at IQSS and FAS, to resolve conflicts, and to achieve agreements on how to move forward with a design when opinions collide. Whenever needed, she has extended her knowledge by reading and analyzing existing research on a topic to help the team make an informed, evidence-based decision. In addition, she has not hesitated to help with other projects when needed (e.g., contributing to project management for a new software release, helping re-design the IQSS web site, and evaluating the user experience of OpenScholar). She has taken on these extra responsibilities with enthusiasm and devotion. She also has shared her research, methods, and results through presentations at IQSS and more broadly at Harvard’s ABCD groups. Overall, she has done exceptional work.

FAS Dean Michael Smith describes the Dean's Distinction Award as honoring "our highest-achieving FAS staff members, whose contributions, citizenship, and skillful collaboration have delivered outstanding results for the FAS in 2014... This year's recipients made remarkable contributions in the areas of student life, faculty support, and libraries and museums. They helped launch new initiatives, and provided extraordinary financial, administrative, and technical support across the FAS."

Congratulations to Elizabeth Quigley for this acknowledgment of her talent and hard work. We at IQSS are thrilled that the Dean has recognized what we all see on a day-to-day basis: that her contributions are worthy of special recognition.
