After 15 years of service at Harvard, Mercè Crosas, who has served as Chief Data Science and Technology Officer at IQSS, is departing the University to take a position with the Institutional Government of Catalonia (Catalunya), Spain. As the Secretary of Transparency and Open Government, she will take the helm of a new department focused on open data science, open government, and collaboration between government, academia, and industry.

Crosas brought to the Institute both enthusiasm for and experience in the development of data management systems and software platforms for analyzing, curating, and sharing data among researchers. She has been a leading figure during her time at IQSS, overseeing the growth of a list of programs and software projects that includes Consilience, OpenScholar, the Dataverse Project, and OpenDP.

Mercè's colleagues at IQSS congratulate her on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in this new leadership position that takes advantage of her incredible talent and strengths. She will be truly missed at IQSS and at Harvard for her incredible contributions.
