OpenDP is looking for data analysts and data managers to participate in testing the DP Creator application via an online interview. The software uses “differential privacy,” a concept not yet widely-known beyond data privacy experts.

OpenDP, a joint project incubated by IQSS with the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, is an effort to build a trustworthy suite of open-source privacy-protective tools in order to enable academic, government, and industry, institutions to safely and confidently share sensitive data that supports scientifically oriented research and exploration in the public interest.

The objectives of the study are:

  1. To investigate the suitability and effectiveness of our proposed explanations in conveying differential privacy (DP) to potential users, and
  2. To explore users’ perceptions, understanding, and experience of the different steps of the DP Creator tool including how the tool may be used to reach their data analysis goals as well as the problems they may encounter.

To be eligible to participate in the study, you must be at least 18 years old and be located in the United States at the time of the interview; participants should not be experienced with differential privacy.

The interview will take place over Zoom and is estimated to last about 75 minutes.
