Alina Herderich is a predoctoral researcher at the Digital Emotions Lab led by Amit Goldenberg at HBS. Her home university is the Graz University of Technology. The majority of her undergraduate and graduate studies comprised psychology, which she complemented with a substantial amount of computer science. Since then she enjoys being a Computational Social Scientist who uses data science tools, especially from natural language processing, to shed new light on old and newly arising psychological questions. Her fields of interest are manifold, but she mainly focuses on emotion regulation theory and measurement (e.g., building a data-driven taxonomy of emotion regulation strategies) and collective moderation of public online spaces (e.g., citizen counter speech on social media platforms).
