I am currently working with Dr. Ronice Quadros, a visiting professor from the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil. My primary role is transcribing the speech of CODAs (Children Of Deaf Adults) for language acquisition research. During high school, I conducted research on adult dialect acquisition as part of the High School Science Research program offered at New York State high schools through the University at Albany (SUNY). My paper "City and Country: Dialect Acquisition in the Catskill Mountains of Upstate New York" will be published in the journal Language and Migration (Lengua y migración) sometime in 2015-2016. I spent the summer of 2014 interning for a digital language documentation project (http://copalatriqui.webonary.org) with Dr. George Aaron Broadwell at SUNY Albany. This inspired my interest in linguistic anthropology and indigenous language research, a field in which I hope to work more extensively in the future.
