I am broadly interested in emotions, gender, mental health, social networks, cultural sociology, and applying cognitive science to sociology. My last project investigated devoted romance reading women. I was especially interested in what it means to be a romance reader, how this identity has changed over the past 35 years, and the implications of changing romantic fantasies on gender relations. My current project investigates the gender gap in depression. I am analyzing time-space variations to understand the relationship between community-specific gender-role cultures and the gender gap.
