Nicolas Wicaksono

Nic is broadly interested in the political economy of development and humanitarian assistance, particularly in conflict-affected settings. His specific interests include governance by non-state actors, the short- and long-term legacies of political violence, identity politics, and research methods for measuring sensitive attitudes and behaviors. He was previously based in Somaliland and worked for Consilient, where he managed a portfolio of program evaluation and formative research projects on behalf of development and humanitarian partners, including UN agencies, USAID, the UK’s FCDO, CARE International, and Mercy Corps. He also worked for Search for Common Ground, where he researched the effectiveness of social cohesion programs and helped implement an initiative in Indonesia to facilitate the social reintegration of individuals formerly incarcerated on terrorism charges. Nic holds a BA in Sociology and Global Affairs from Yale University and a master’s in Global Affairs from Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University.
