Robert Gahl

Robert Gahl is the Vice Director of the Markets, Culture, and Ethics (MCE) Research Centre and of the Program of Church Management at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Santa Croce) in Rome. Dr. Gahl completed his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, worked in Silicon Valley, completed his doctorate in philosophy at Santa Croce, and did postdoctoral research at the University of Notre Dame. Much of his recent research has focused on classical virtue theory, the narrative unity of life, and their complementarity with cognitive psychology. His current research focuses on moderation, self-mastery, and sexuality within human flourishing and is offering a course entitled "Self-Mastery, Sexuality, and Neuroscience: Perspectives from Philosophy and Cognitive Science for Human Flourishing": https://hfh.fas.harvard.edu/self-mastery
