Wen Wang

Wen Wang is currently a Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Quantitative Social Science (IQSS) at Harvard University, where he is involved in the China Biographical Database (CBDB) project. His research interests primarily include digital humanities, Chinese intellectual history, classical Chinese literature, and philology, with a particular focus on the application of methods such as text analysis, social network analysis, and large language models in research in the humanities and social sciences. He is the author of Methods and Technical Practice in Digital Humanities, a book published by Zhonghua Book Company.

His current research employs digital humanities methods, including social network analysis and large-language-model-assisted text mining, to reconstruct the social networks and knowledge structures of Tang–Song literati. On this basis, he explores the interactive relationships among thought, knowledge, literature, politics, and society. Methodologically, his work seeks to integrate traditional humanistic approaches, especially those represented by philology and intellectual history, with computational methods, in order to advance innovation in both research methodology and interpretive frameworks.
