I had the pleasure of first working with Sid when he was Director of the University Library. When I was interviewing for the position, he and I met in the first- floor conference room of Wadsworth House which served as George Washington’s headquarters during the Revolutionary War.  The room is directly above the Red Line and you could hear and feel the rumbling of the subway cars moving underneath.  At one point, when it was especially noisy, Sid smiled and said, “Don’t worry, that’s just George Washington’s ghost.” I knew immediately that I was going to like working with him. When I came to GOV, I saw him in the hall and said how happy I was to be working with him again….without missing a beat, he smiled and said, “We don’t have any ghosts here, that I’m aware of!”  I knew that coming to GOV had been the right choice!
