The GIS Institute is a two-week training course in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and its application to research. The program is designed for Harvard graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, faculty, and staff, as well as external researchers who want to integrate spatial thinking, incorporate GIS methods, learn spatial analysis tools, and communicate with maps in their research. Sunday, March 22, 2026, 11:59 pm (Late applications may join the waitlist) - Notification of acceptance
Friday, March 27, 2026 - Registration fee due ($100 for Harvard affiliates and $3,150 for others)
Sunday, April 12, 2026 (Seat is guaranteed when registration fee is paid) - Deadline for meeting with instructors to finalize project/data
Friday, May 1, 2026 - Institute begins
Monday, June 8, 2026 - Final project presentations
