About

faculty member speaking at eventThe IQSS Undergraduate Research Scholars (URS) program connects Harvard undergraduates to affiliated faculty by providing grants and payroll infrastructure for students to be hired as research assistants. Funding is awarded to faculty in $1,500 increments and may be used solely to hire undergraduates. Fully spent awards may be augmented with additional funding, depending on available resources. Each approved project is allowed up to $3,000 for the year.

Undergraduate Research Scholars are an integral part of an academic team and start building valuable research and work experience. Students hired as Undergraduate Research Scholars are also considered IQSS affiliates and are part of the IQSS community.

Faculty members who are approved for a URS grant may use the funding to hire undergrad research assistants for their projects.

Harvard undergraduates are paid $18/hr by the URS program to provide research assistance for approved faculty-led research projects. This is an opportunity to gain firsthand research experience working with faculty members all across the University.
