Policies

To provide the best possible environment & services for our patrons, we require everyone to follow the following policies:
 

  • Follow all Harvard security policies and guidelines.
  • Our equipment and workstations are only to be used for the means by which they are provided to our community. 
  • Booting off of anything but the internal hard drives is blocked and prohibited.
  • Per Harvard policy, the sharing of accounts is prohibited. Do not log other people in with your credentials.
  • High-Risk confidential data should never be accessed on lab workstations.
  • Confidential data should never be stored on lab workstations.
  • Photo, audio & video recording of the lab is prohibited.
  • Please save your files to an external drive, such as One Drive, Google Drive, or a USB drive. Our workstations may be wiped without notice, and data loss is possible.
  • Do not disconnect or rearrange the cables or wiring. 
  • Our workstations must not be used to create commercial/non-educational content.
  • Please ensure to only use paper verified to work with laser printers. 
  • We cannot be held liable for lost or stolen items, Please do not leave your personal belongings unattended.
  • We cannot be held liable for equipment failures that may damage personal devices. 
  • Lost items can be found at Building Operations (Room K005).
  • Please refrain from loud conversations, offensive language, and the display or printing of offensive material as covered by University Policies, including sexually or racially offensive or harassing materials.
  • Using headphones with any computer-based audio is required.
  • Please silence your cell phone and take all phone conversations outside our labs.
  • Unattended children are not allowed in our computer labs.
  • Attended children are not permitted access to our workstations.
  • Please help to keep our spaces clean by disposing of your trash.
  • Food is not permitted in the lab. 
  • Alcohol, tobacco, vaping, or drug use is not allowed in the lab.
  • Our staff is here to help you; please follow their guidance and treat them respectfully.
