Summer is once again upon us, and with it, the annual change to staffing as our student staff graduates or goes home for the Summer. During this time, staffing may not be consistent, so we encourage all of our patrons to please email us at iqsslabs@harvard.edu if they need help and are unable to find anyone at the helpdesk. I am happy to announce that I have finished the deployment of a variety of new workstations in our labs.  These new workstations join our Optiplex 7090s from 2021 and the super-powered Mac Pro from 2019.

We are excited to announce that the IQSS Computer Labs are fully re-opened for in-person workstation use.  

- Our staffed (remote and in-person) hours are Monday - Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. 
- Remote Access will remain available.
- Item checkout is unavailable until staffing returns to pre-pandemic levels.
- Mask use is encouraged but not required.

If you are interested in using our lab , please email us for access. 

 

Item Checkouts will be unavailable from Friday, December 20th through Monday, January 6th. Please plan accordingly.

Notice: Due to staffing changes our Help Desk hours are currently limited. Until the end of the Summer our base hours will be 9am-5pm Monday - Friday. 

We have now added additional standing desks to our main labs.  Both our K301 and Concourse labs now have three standing desks available, including one in each lab dedicated to our study tables/laptop stations. 

If there are things you would like to see added to our labs, please let us know.

We have just deployed all new power strips to the majority of our desktops in the Concourse and K301 Labs. These new strips are made by Anker, and have two regular plugs, two 12W USB-A ports, and one 30W USB-C port. We have just released all new Optiplex 7460 AiO's for our K018 training classroom. These Windows 10 based machines have basically the same list of applications available as our lab machines (excluding Autodesk and Rhino), and are much faster than our older 2013 iMacs. As part of our ongoing equipment refresh, we have replaced our aging scanner with the Fujitsu  fi 7700 scanner.
